Hard work, soft heart

Hola! Day 3 in Nicaragua was another success. Today in the social work site we got to minister and play with about 25 of the local girls. They are absolute sweethearts! They came in and didn't even give it a second thought to come up and give you a huge hug and kiss. The love that they share with total strangers is amazing.
Throughout the trip the language barrier has probably been one of the biggest struggles of mine but I find as I pray more about it God has blessed me more and more with the gift of understanding and patience. I find myself responding with words I wasn't aware I knew! God truly is amazing.
I've also come to the realization of how alike we are. I came over here with full expectations of having nothing in common with these amazing people but as we do more and more home visits (in the social work site) I am starting to see the similarities between us. Yesterday I met a 20 year old girl who loves softball (as do I) and we got a chance to talk about it and bond through that despite our language barrier!
So far I think my favorite part about Nicaragua is the people. Some of these people have so little but don't hesitate to invite strangers into their homes and offer them their chair or even a bowl of soup (sadly we had to decline due to our "weak stomachs" and intolerance to the water). They're also so genuine and kind. The kindness that they give doesn't have any strings attached. They don't expect anything in return but they do it because its the kind thing to do.
Well it's almost time for bed. We just got back from Katia's house to hear her testimony (after getting screamed at in Spanish for our oh so very little accident, a story for another time). She is an absolute amazing inspiration and I hope to meet many more people like her on this trip.

God bless you and thank you for your prayers  -Carson
